Wow, you just wrote my review for me, exactly. Thank you, as my battery is about to die. I also paid $60 about 7 months ago. It is plugged into a 17" laptop that just about never leaves its spot on my coffee table. In other words, the cord was hardly ever moved at all. And it just broke, exactly as you described. So agreed, this cord is definitely not worth any amount of money. What a waste of money. I wonder if its covered under warranty?

I have two laptops, a Dell Inspiron and a HP, this charger works great with both. Although I wasn't sure which tip went with which computer, it was just a matter of elimination. The Dell tip was obvious because of the size, the HP had two similar tips that fit, but only one showed charging...fairly self explanatory. Packaging was a little hard to open, but I'm a small guy and those sealed style packages always are for me. It's compact to travel with and the two additional USB ports on the brick come in handy to charge your electronics. The cord is longer than the original chargers that came with my laptops and it charges them faster as well. The retractable feature is perfect for keeping things organized and is very easy to use. The bag it comes with keeps it all together. I am satisfied with this purchase and definitely recommend this charger as a replacement or extra charger for "on the go" use.
